Those Photography Lockdown Blues

I just noticed that my last blog post was in January! Boy am I slacking! Well, I can't really blame myself - the recent "Stay at Home" order in Ontario sent most of my photography plans to a screeching halt.

So what's been happening since January?

Alexis

I was delighted that I was able to fit in an outdoor session with Alexis in March, between lockdowns.

Being a first time model, it was expected for Alexis to be a little nervous but it certainly didn't show. She is a natural. The nerves faded away quickly and she had a lot fun in her modelling debut. Check out her first photoshoot at https://jbrphotoca.wixsite.com/alexis .

Alexis has expressed a desire to do more shoots so hopefully JBR Photo fans will be seeing much more of Alexis in the future.

Jessica

Most of you who have been following my work will know Jessica. She has been my signature "go-to" model for a couple of years now. Without her willingness to pose for the camera on a frequent basis and her patience while I tweak the lighting set-ups and camera settings, I would never have been able to develop my photography skills to where they are today. Thanks Jess! You can follow Jessica at www.instagram.com/thecolouritburns .

How does this fit the theme of the "Lockdown Blues". I had a photoshoot scheduled with Jessica for the day following the announcement of the Ontario "Stay at Home" order. Screeeeeeeeeeech! So much for those plans. Fortunately she is ready to jump in front of the camera again once the restrictions are relaxed.

What's in the Shoot Queue?

Things are starting to look up a bit. I have a couple of things on the back burner. I have a Mother's Day-themed shoot for sometime shortly after the lockdown lifts. I'm looking forward to catching some smiling baby & grandma images.

Remember Alex and Emily? I had the pleasure of shooting Alex and Emily's engagement session last November. You can view that shoot at https://jbrphotoca.wixsite.com/alex-emily-2 . They're getting hitched next month and have asked me to photograph their wedding! I'm really looking forward to that one. I understand it will be a small covid-compliant outdoor occasion. I've put in an order for some beautiful weather for their special day and can't wait to capture some special memories for them.

Then there's the mystery shoot! I've donated a free photoshoot to be awarded as a prize at Alex & Emily's Stag and Doe later in May. Who will it be? No one knows ... yet. But I'm hoping to have some more awesome shots to show from that session.

Well, that's about it for now. Take care of yourself and stay safe!
